Downtown Kamloops deli and garden centre closing shop in the summer

KAMLOOPS — A longstanding deli in downtown Kamloops will slice its final set of cold cuts this summer.
In a news release issued Monday (April 17), Anita and Dalton Strong – owners of the Smorgasbord Deli and Country Garden Greenhouse – announced their building has been purchased by a pizza business and they must move out by the end of August. The deli and the greenhouse opened at the Victoria Street location in 1999.
“We have been talking about retiring anyway but may end up just closing up the shop.” Anita says. “Not that we want to, but we don’t have anyone ready to take over in this short amount of time.”
An information session for prospective cooperators about co-owning the Smorgasbord and Country Garden Greenhouse will be held on Wednesday, April 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
