Clearwater woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for 2020 killing

KAMLOOPS — A Clearwater woman will serve more than eight years in jail after a 2020 killing.

Ashleigh Tschritter was arrested September 6, 2020 in a remote area near the Adams Forest Service Road.

At the time, RCMP said they had received a 9-1-1 call. Responding officers found the body of David Simpson.

Tschritter was later charged with second degree murder, but was eventually convicted of manslaughter.

Crown spokesperson Dan McLaughlin says in B.C. Supreme Court Friday (April 14), Tschritter was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, with 700 days’ credit given for time served, Tschritter will serve eight years and one month.
