Blazers win Game 4 in overtime, sweep Giants away
LANGLEY — The Kamloops Blazers are off to the second round of the WHL playoffs, beating the Vancouver Giants 5-4 in overtime Thursday night (April 6) to sweep the first round series between the B.C. Division rivals.
Olen Zellweger scored two goals for the Blazers, including the overtime winner with 1.5 seconds remaining in the extra period. Ryan Hofer added two first period goals, while Connor Levis also tallied in the first.
The Giants put up a much stiffer challenge for Kamloops in Game 4 than in the first three games, fighting for their playoff lives. Ty Thorpe had a hat trick for Vancouver, while Skyler Bruce scored with five minutes remaining in the third period to send the game to overtime.
