Sun Peaks announces plans for third new chairlift in six years
SUN PEAKS — As the Sun Peaks ski resort prepares to wind up its ski season this weekend, the resort has announced plans for a new high-speed chairlift.
The West Bowl Express, will be a detachable quad lift that will service the upper reaches of Mt. Tod. The lift will be built by Doppelmayr at a cost of about $12 million. In a news release, Sun Peaks expects the lift to begin operation in the fall of 2024.
‘Sun Peaks continues to evolve and this significant new lift infrastructure will diversify the experience in an important pod of terrain in the resort,” said Darcy Alexander, Sun Peaks Vice President and General Manager. “Guests will have additional trails and vertical to explore with the convenience and efficiency of detachable lift technology.”
Sun Peaks says detailed planning, engineering, and ground construction has already been completed. Over the summer months, electrical and foundation work will prepare the resort for the installation of the lift in the summer of 2024.
