RAW VIDEO: Dangerous passes still happening on Highway 5 North

KAMLOOPS — Despite increased scrutiny and enforcement, dashcam video taken last month shows dangerous driving is still taking place along Highway 5 in the North Thompson Valley.

Taken from the dash of a commercial truck, the video shows several northbound vehicles driving along as a passing lane comes to an end.

About 35 seconds into the 1-minute video, once the passing lane has ended, a red commercial truck enters the frame, passing in the oncoming lane.

In the Facebook post, Keating says he and other commercial drivers in the area took steps to ensure the driver who performed the dangerous maneuver was reported to authorities.

There has been a series of deadly incidents on Highway 5 North in the past few months, including a crash on March 1 that killed three people. Local civic leaders are calling on the province to address the issue.
