RCMP Constables and Good Samaritan recover stolen purse
KAMLOOPS — On Thursday night, a woman and her companions were the victims of a purse-snatching incident. However, thanks to the quick thinking of RCMP Constables Roefus and Pitt, and the actions of a young man who had asked for change earlier, the purse was returned to the owner within a few hours.
According to the victim, she had stopped to give two toonies to a young man who had asked for change. As she and her companions walked away, a thief in a black outfit grabbed her purse and ran off. The victim’s husband and friend immediately gave chase, as did the young man who had received the two toonies.
Although the thief ultimately escaped, the victim was able to report the theft to the RCMP, who were quick to respond. Two hours later, the RCMP contacted the victim and informed her that her purse had been found. A young man had turned it in at the precinct, claiming to have found it. The RCMP promptly returned the purse to the victim, with only a few items missing.
The victim expressed her gratitude towards the RCMP constables and the individuals who had given chase. She also speculated that the young man who had received the two toonies earlier may have played a role in the thief’s decision to return the purse. Regardless of the circumstances, the victim was thankful for the return of her purse, and especially for the safety of herself and her companions.
