Elizabeth Fry Society hosts events shedding light on intimate partner violence Wednesday
KAMLOOPS — On Wednesday morning (March 29), the Kamloops and District Elizabeth Fry Society is hosting a workshop aimed at organizations that provide services to people experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV).
“We also want to give them more of a trauma-informed approach when dealing with someone who’s experienced intimate partner violence,” Odette Dempsey-Caputo, the senior lawyer for the Kamloops and District Elizabeth Fry Society, explains. “What can they do in the law? Generally, it’s women. It can happen for men, as well, but generally, it’s women. How we can make these women feel comfortable when providing services to them.”
One of the reasons E-Fry wanted to host this conference is to help spread awareness about the prevalence of intimate partner violence across Canada.
