Two-hectare grassfire burns near Rivershore

UPDATE: (10:45 a.m.): BC Wildfire Service says the East of Lion’s Head wildfire is under control at two hectares and is suspected to be human caused.

“It’s getting fairly dry out, especially in those valley bottoms,” Taylor Wallace, Fire Information Officer says. “Be cautious if you’re planning to conduct any open burning activities this spring. Check with BC Wildfire Service and your local authorities to see if there are any current burning restrictions or bylaws in effect.”

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A two-hectare grassfire has emerged in the Monte Creek area.

According to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), the new East of Lion’s Head wildfire started on Sunday (March 26). Smoke can be seen burning in the hills above Shuswap Road near Rivershore.
