Rivershore Golf Links among list of golf courses opening up for spring

KAMLOOPS — The recent stretch of mild weather in the Thompson region has led to positive signs for the start of spring. It’s prompted golf courses like Rivershore Golf Links to open their doors Thursday morning.

“It’s been a long winter,” said local golfer Wayne Murphy. “I’ve been waiting several months for this and i’m glad its here”

Members who have been apart of the golf course say despite a later start to the golf season, they’re happy to be on the greens.

“Most people’s vocabulary in Canada, that’s not late,” Scott Wilson laughed. “It’s regulation greens and tees as well. The temps aren’t here, it’s regulation greens and tees.”

Golfers who were eager to hit the course did have to wait an hour on tee times due to a frost delay.

“I think you’d have to club up a bit. Taking more than you’d be used to in kind of the peak season,” golf professional Wes Driessen told CFJC Today. “The ball is not gonna go as far right now, especially with the cold.”
