KAMLOOPS — There is heartbreaking news for a Kamloops family.

Kamloops RCMP say they have located the body of a woman they believe to be Jo-Anne Donovan, and they are treating her death as a homicide.

In a news release, Cpl. Dave Marshall of the detachment’s Serious Crime Unit (SCU) says an autopsy will be conducted to confirm the woman’s identity.

Donovan was last seen near her home in Westsyde on March 13. Her son, Brandon, told CFJC Today the woman’s disappearance was out of character.

RCMP later released photos of Donovan’s car in order to help drum up tips.

In announcing the development today, Cpl. Marshall said RCMP don’t believe there is any risk to the public.

“This is not the outcome that anyone was hoping for,” said Marshall. “Our investigation has now shifted focus to determine what happened to Jo-Anne.”

Anyone with further information, including those who may have seen Donovan or her car around the time of her disappearance, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2023-8641.
