Merritt Mounties make arrest following weekend search warrant

MERRITT — A Merritt woman has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement.

Merritt Mounties with the assistance of the South East District Emergency response team executed a search warrant in the 1900 block of Morrissey Street on Saturday (March 18) where they detained multiple people and arrested Kristal Poirier.

“On March 17, the Merritt RCMP were alerted to an alleged assault and forcible confinement. Through investigation, grounds were obtained for a search warrant at a residence,” said Sgt. Josh Roda.

Poirier remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, March 21.
