MONTREAL — Kamloops-born goaltender Kendra Woodland has been named the U Sports women’s hockey Player of the Year after a standout season with the University of New Brunswick Reds.

In a ceremony in Montreal Wednesday (Mar. 15), Woodland was awarded the Brodrick Trophy, recognizing the top university player in the country.

The fourth-year keeper had a dominant season for the Reds, finishing with a U Sports-best .960 save percentage. Woodland racked up a 23-and-5 record and compiled a 1.10 goals against average.

She performed even better for Team Canada at the 2023 FISU World Winter University Games in Lake Placid, earning shutouts in three of her four games to lead Canada to gold.
