Kamloops firm to partner with Lafarge to produce eco-friendly concrete
KAMLOOPS — Progressive Planet, a clean tech and manufacturing company based in the Mount Paul Industrial Park, has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Lafarge Canada, the country’s largest cement producer. The MOU outlines a plan to explore a clean tech solution that will reduce the carbon footprint of cement. Lafarge will purchase all the PozGlass produced by Progressive Planet’s pilot plant based on Sarcee Street and test the product’s commercial potential.
PozGlass is made of 100 per cent recycled consumer glass and is designed to replace many of the carbon-intensive cement ingredients in cement. Lafarge will also be Progressive Planet’s exclusive cement industry partner in implementing PozGlass into cement products and identifying opportunities to expand the technology.
“Lafarge is at the forefront of green building solutions and the potential addition of PozGlass to reduce the global warming potential of cement is very promising.” said Progressive Planet CEO Steve Harpur. “There is no better partner to work with than Lafarge to take this to commercial markets and help the world fight climate change and get to a Net Zero future.” Harpur continued.
