17 feral horses found shot to death near Walhachin
WALHACHIN, B.C. — It’s an act B.C. RCMP’s Livestock Section is calling “disheartening.” Police are investigating a mass killing of feral horses near Cache Creek.
In a news release, RCMP say the horses were killed on Crown land north of Walhachin. On Friday (Mar. 10), investigators were led to a location where they found 17 horses that had recently been shot.
Police believe the horses came from a feral herd that frequents the area. The herd has cultural significance to the nearby Skeetchestn First Nation.
RCMP investigators from the force’s Forensic Identification Section were joined by a Livestock Investigator and a veterinarian in probing the scene.
