Kamloops Mountie assaulted, property damaged in interaction with teen mischief suspect

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a belligerent teen was responsible for a lot of damage and chaos over the weekend.

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says a patrolling officer heard a vehicle arm near the 400-block of Lansdowne Street late Saturday evening (Mar. 4).

Upon investigation, the officer arrested a teen for mischief, but the suspect took off on foot.

The officer later noted some smashed vehicle windows in the area.

Not long after, another Mountie found the same teen and placed him under arrest. The teen resisted, though, smashing the window of a police vehicle in the process.

The young person was taken to cells and then the hospital, where he allegedly assaulted another police officer. The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Evelyn says charges against the teen are anticipated.
