KAMLOOPS — Traffic on the North Shore is expected to be impacted throughout the spring.

The City of Kamloops says resurfacing and utility works on Fortune Drive between Oak Road and Overlanders Bridge will begin Monday (March 6) and last until June 25, 2023. The City states that the construction is weather dependent and will include:

  • installing 300 metres of sanitary sewer pipe
  • repairing sidewalk
  • milling existing asphalt
  • repaving asphalt
  • pavement markings

The City encourages drivers to obey all traffic control personnel and equipment when driving through the Fortune Drive construction area as traffic detours may be in effect. Transit will also be impacted.

Additionally, some driveway accesses will be temporarily impacted during construction, but property owners will be notified. The City also says pedestrian access will be maintained through the construction zone.

For residents, garbage collection will not be affected. However, compaction equipment may be used during construction, meaning any fragile items should be packaged or protected due to vibration.

Construction is scheduled to take place Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City says there may also be noise disruption due to the equipment.
