KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 363 public complaints from Friday (Feb. 24) to 9:00 a.m. Monday (Feb. 27). Below are some incidents police attended.

Unwanted guest on the North Shore

At around 10:45 p.m., officers attended a home on the 500-block of Fortune Drive where an unknown man had entered a house through an unlocked front door.

RCMP say the man – described as white while wearing all black – fled when the homeowner approached.

Police say they cleared the home and found no other suspect. Additionally, nothing appeared to be taken.

Body armour seized during traffic stop in North Kamloops

Stopping an SUV after it nearly struck another vehicle led to RCMP finding drugs and body armour inside Saturday afternoon.

An officer stopped an SUV with three people inside at Halston Avenue and 12th Street at around 4:00 p.m.

As part of the investigation, police say they found drugs and paraphernalia, open liquor and body armour.

The driver was issued tickets for driving contrary to restrictions, fail to display L, and having open liquor in a vehicle. A passenger was also issued a ticket for possessing body armour without a licence.

Car down an embankment near Heffley Creek

A man has lost his driver’s license for 90 days following a crash on Tod Mountain Road early Sunday morning.

RCMP say they were called by Kamloops Fire Rescue at around 2:40 a.m. when a truck had gone off road and down an embankment.

Police gave the driver, who climbed up the roadway, two roadside breath tests, which both resulted in failures. The truck was towed during daylight hours.

In the doghouse

Entering a downtown home through a doggy door landed a man in jail for the night.

At around 1:50 a.m. Saturday, RCMP say they were called to a home on the 1100-block of Nicola Street where a homeowner caught a drunk man entering their home through a doggy door.

The man allegedly mistook the home for another. He was released when sober.
