CLEARWATER, B.C. — A triple-fatal collision on Highway 5 south of Clearwater was not caused by road conditions.

In a news release, B.C. Highway Patrol says a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck crossed the centre line of the 3300-block of the Yellowhead Highway and side-swiped a Ford F-550 truck hauling a trailer. The F-550 then collided head on with a Ford Escape.

BC Highway Patrol Clearwater is investigating to determine why the F-150 driver of the crossed over the centre line. Police say the F-150 driver is being cooperative.

Police say the three occupants of the Ford Escape were found dead at the scene — two of them being recent refugee immigrants. The driver of the F-150 was not seriously injured but sent to hospital. The F-550 driver was uninjured.
