Scotties visitors help boost Kamloops economy
KAMLOOPS — Curling Canada was unsure how the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops would fare, being the first back in front of a crowd since before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Overall, more than 50,000 spectators attended games through the 10-day event, surpassing Curling Canada’s expectations.
“It was very emotional, actually. We had such a great team behind us. To see it wrap up like it did and the amazing final game, it was great. We are very, very impressed with everybody, from the volunteers all the way up to the players and all the champions. Very impressive,” said Organizing Committee Vice-Chair Linda Bolton.
More than 300 volunteers helped the event run smoothly. Bolton was proud of how Kamloops supported curling.
