Rare ice disc dots confluence of North Thompson, Clearwater rivers

CLEARWATER, B.C. — An extremely rare natural phenomenon, familiar to Kamloops residents, has emerged in the North Thompson Valley.

An aerial photo taken by Ken Lancour of Yellowhead Helicopters at the confluence of the North Thompson and Clearwater rivers was shared to social media by Clearwater mayor Merlin Blackwell Monday (Feb. 27).

It shows the unmistakable form of an ice disc in the water.
