Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit finds stolen truck on North Shore; suspect in custody

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) special initiative launched in November bore some fruit Tuesday (Feb. 14).

According to Supt. Jeff Pelley, the initiative focuses on prolific offenders.

On Tuesday, CRU members zeroed in on a green Dodge pickup truck in the 900-block of Jasper Avenue. The truck had been reported stolen earlier.

A man inside the truck was taken into custody. He is being held in custody, with RCMP recommending charges of possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited.

“Yesterday’s arrest is part of an ongoing initiative which began in November 2022, when the Crime Reduction Unit created a plan focused on reducing vehicle thefts and targeting prolific offenders to hold them to account,” said Pelley.

Anyone with further information on the incident, including video footage of the green Dodge, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2022-41008.

As they were investigating the stolen truck, members also found and arrested a woman in relation to a separate investigation for possession of stolen property.
