One dead, one seriously injured after Cariboo Highway crash south of 150 Mile House: RCMP

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Police say one person is dead and another is seriously injured in hospital following a two-vehicle collision on the Cariboo Highway near Williams Lake Friday (Feb. 10) afternoon.

In a news release issued Sunday (Feb. 12) afternoon, Williams Lake RCMP say preliminary findings suggest two southbound vehicles collided on Highway 97 south of 150 Mile House after one was attempting to pass.

RCMP say they were told of the crash at around 12:35 p.m. Friday where one occupant was reported to have been ejected from a vehicle following a rollover. First responders were tending to seven occupants of the two vehicles upon police arrival.

Victims of the crash have been identified in an online fundraiser.

Investigations by Williams Lake RCMP, BC Highway Patrol, and the BC Coroners Services looking into the events leading up to the crash are still ongoing.
