KAMLOOPS — Just 24 hours after the TRU Wolfpack lost a nail-biter to the top team in the Canada West conference, the Manitoba Bisons kept their foot on the gas pedal, defeating the Wolfpack 84-50 on Saturday (Feb.11) at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The first quarter would go in the Bisions favour, as Simon Hildebrandt continued where he left off from his 22 point performance the night before, scoring five in the first quarter and make it 19-12 Bisons after the first quarter.

The Bisons would not stop there, dominating the second quarter with the help of Daren Watts having a perfect shooting performance in the frame by going 2-2 in the field goal range. The Bisons would outscore the Wolfpack 27-10 in the second quarter alone and lead 46-22 going into the first half.

The Wolfpack would come out in the third quarter with a solid performance, with Thomas Olsen putting up seven of the team’s 14 points in the quarter.

Yet, the Bisons ball movement was too much to handle as Hildebrandt and Elijah Lostracco would each score six points for the top team in the Canada West Conference as part of the team’s 24 point outing in the third quarter to lead 70-36 heading into the fourth.

Both teams would score 14 points each in the fourth quarter but that would not be enough for the Wolfpack to make a comeback as the Bisons win 84-50 and complete the weekend series sweep.

That concludes the Wolfpack’s season as they finish the 2022-2023 campaign with a 5-15 record while Bisons finish their regular season in U-Sport Men’s Basketball with the best record in the nation at 18-2.
