Kamloops city council to consider supplemental budget items Tuesday

KAMLOOPS — Budget deliberations are ongoing at city hall in Kamloops.

This week, council will consider a list of supplemental budget items at a community of the whole meeting on Tuesday (Feb 14) morning.

Before any of the supplemental items are considered, the provisional budget has an increase of 5.60%.

Ten items are up for debate, with council able to approve all, none or some of the proposals. Any approved item would increase the current tax rate.

Six of the ten items come from within city hall.

– Expansion of the community services officer program

– Additional staffing for Kamloops Fire Rescue

– Additional fleet vehicles

– Boulevard and streetscape beautification

– Pacific Way off-ramp upgrades

– Summer Drive and Trans Canada Highway on-ramp upgrades

The other four item were proposed by community groups.

– Kamloops Marquee welcome sign

– North Shore public realm improvement fund

– Venture Kamloops economic data

– Acceleration of active transportation plan

The meeting to debate the items will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday.
