Downtown Kamloops shopper emerges from store to find their car driving away; one arrested
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops woman was arrested after a Toyota Camry was reportedly stolen from outside a downtown Kamloops store.
In a news release issued Thursday (Feb. 9) morning, Kamloops RCMP say they responded to the store on Seventh Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after a person had left their vehicle running to go inside. They came out to find it being driven away.
“Officers conducted patrols and located the vehicle travelling westbound on the Trans Canada Highway,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says. “Further investigation revealed the suspect was also driving while prohibited and impaired.”
The woman was released with conditions and a court date related to driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property. She was also issued a 90-day driving prohibition.
