Below normal February snowpack an early indicator of potential spring drought: province
VICTORIA — The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) says below normal snowpack is the norm across B.C.
In its latest Snow Survey and Water Supply Bulletin, using numbers from February 1, the BCRFC says the average snowpack across the province is 79 per cent of normal. That’s down from 82 per cent on January 1.
Most areas alpine around Kamloops are even lower, with the Middle Fraser at 64 per cent of normal, Lower Fraser at 71 per cent and the North Thompson at 63 per cent.
