KAMLOOPS — It’s forecast to be a stormy Tuesday (Feb. 7) across B.C., and once again, the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt is not immune.

Environment Canada issued a winter storm warning for the stretch of Highway 5 for Tuesday as light snow in the morning will intensify later in the day.

In total, the weather agency says the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt is expected to see around 25 centimetres of snow on Tuesday. It’s due to a frontal system moving across B.C.’s Interior.

“Over the Coquihalla Highway, snow will be mainly near the summit today as snow levels hover around 1,200 metres,” Environment Canada states. “The snow levels are expected to drop to 600 metres this evening. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.”
