Community support worker joining Thompson-Nicola Regional Library

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library is adding a new service to guide the public with social services and help them navigate community resources.

Karlie Ferland will be a Community Support Worker for the library, assisting patrons who struggle with substance abuse, mental health, employment, and more. In addition, Ferland helps provide referrals to those in need of one.

Ferland will also run a free drop-in program called “Coffee and Conversations”, rotating between the Kamloops and North Kamloops libraries. The purpose of the program is to help people learn about resources that our available in the community and to connect with one another. The program will take place February 18 and 25 and then March 18 and 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Despite being in the role until the end of March, Ferland is pleased to offer her help to the community.
