Coyote attacks man in Kamloops dog park
KAMLOOPS — Coyote mating season is underway in the Kamloops region and with the season comes increased activity and aggression.
A man reported being attacked by a coyote in Juniper Park Wednesday (Jan. 25). The Juniper Ridge resident says he was walking his dog back from the convenience store and was knocked over and attacked by 3 coyotes. The man says the coyotes were stalking him on his walk home. The dog was unharmed.
The victim’s partner posted an update to Facebook on Wednesday stating “There is an active aggressive pack of coyotes wandering the area of 2530 Nechako currently. They followed/stalked my partner all the way back home from around the corner store last night after they rolled up and attacked him…”
Conservation Officer Services (COS) is currently investigating the incident, and have posted signs across the Juniper Ridge neighborhood and released a statement to CFJC Today. “The COS is reminding the public to take precautions when outside in case of coyote encounters. This includes ensuring pets are leashed, traveling in groups, and making yourself look as big as possible should a coyote approach you.”
