MovieMaker points to Kamloops as one of the top places in North America to live and work as a filmmaker
KAMLOOPS — While it doesn’t guarantee your film will become a hit, the magazine MovieMaker says Kamloops is one of the best places in North America to be an auteur.
The quarterly periodical aimed at the film industry released its annual location list earlier this month, placing Kamloops at #8 on its list of smaller cities and towns in which to live and work as a moviemaker.
In placing Kamloops inside its Top 10, MovieMaker praises the region’s potential to offer a wide variety of outdoor backdrops. It goes on to highlight the generous tax credits offered through the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission and ease of permitting.
While it was nominated for three Razzie awards, the blockbuster Jurassic World: Dominion grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. A large portion of the movie was filmed around Kamloops.
