Worksafe B.C. flagged deficiencies in TRU safe workplace policy before investigation into administrators began
Before an independent investigation was conducted after allegations of bullying and harassment against two senior administrators at Thompson Rivers University, Worksafe B.C. had looked into the same issue at the school.
CFJC Today has obtained a pair of Worksafe B.C. inspection reports originating from a review of TRU’s Respectful Workplace and Harassment Prevention policy that took place on December 17, 2020.
The inspection flagged a series of inadequacies in relation to the policy, including:
- The policy did not provide an avenue for investigation into bullying and harassment complaints
- The policy did not require the school to “promptly take corrective action” once a complaint came forward
- The policy called for its own review every five years; Worksafe standards require an annual review
