KAMLOOPS —Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 372 public complaints from Friday (Jan. 13) to 9:00 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 16). Below are some incidents police attended.

Large drug seizure downtown

A large amount of cash and drugs were seized after a downtown traffic stop Friday evening.

RCMP say an officer patrolling near Fifth Avenue and Lansdowne Street stopped a brown Nissan Altima at around 9:30 p.m. due to her suspicion of the male driver being impaired.

The man was arrested and later released, and a subsequent search led to police seizing brass knuckles, drug trafficking paraphernalia, nearly $9,000 in cash, 44 grams of fentanyl, 89 grams of meth, 12 grams of cocaine, four grams of crack, 23 tabs of LSD and dozens of pills.

Impaired driver arrested downtown

A woman lost her license for 90 days after almost striking pedestrians and fleeing from police downtown early Sunday morning.

RCMP say an officer was on Fifth Avenue when he saw a white sedan leaving through an alley, then found it at a red light on Victoria Street and saw its driver using a cellphone. Police say the woman drove away after the officer tried to enforce a traffic stop.

The sedan was then found in an alley near the 400-block of Seymour Street at around 3:00 a.m. and the woman was arrested. Roadside breath tests showed readings of fail, indicating a blood alcohol content exceeding .08.

Break-in on Columbia Street

Electronics, money and gifts cards were stolen from a business on the 500-block of Columbia Street over the weekend.

RCMP say they received a report of a break-in on Sunday at around 8:20 a.m. where a masked suspect entered twice: first at around 8:00 p.m. and again at around 1:00 a.m.

Anyone who witnessed the reported robbery or has information related to it is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
