Williams Lake RCMP warn public of man believed to be involved in gang violence

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Williams Lake RCMP are issuing a public warning due to an increased threat to public safety.
In a news release issued Saturday (Jan. 14), RCMP say information suggests that Lashway Merritt, and his involvement in gang activity and the violence associated with it, poses a risk to the residents of Williams Lake. Police believe that anyone associated to Merritt, or in close proximity to him, may be putting themselves at risk.
According to RCMP, Merritt was recently the victim of a shooting in 2022 that is believed to be gang related, and he may still be at risk.
Williams Lake RCMP asks anyone to report any information about recent incidents of violence or suspicious activity to police by calling 9-1-1.
