Missing Kamloops man found deceased: family

UPDATE (8:45 a.m.): Kamloops RCMP confirmed Gibbon and his white Dodge Avenger were found down a steep ravine near Summit Drive and Victoria Street West Sunday (Jan. 15) at around 4:10 p.m.

“According to the investigation so far, it appears as though the crash likely occurred around a similar timeframe of when the man was reported missing,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says. “It is a sad outcome and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”

RCMP says no criminality is currently suspected as its Municipal Traffic Unit and the BC Coroners Service continue their investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information related to it is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A 22-year-old Kamloops man who went missing prior to the New Year has been found deceased.

In a social media post, Diana Cattermole says her brother in-law Jakob Gibbon was involved in a single-vehicle accident, and his car was in a location that was not easily seen. She says Gibbon’s family currently asks for privacy.

According to Kamloops RCMP, Gibbon was last seen by his family at his home in Kamloops on Dec. 28, 2022.

CFJC Today has reached out to Kamloops RCMP for comment.
