Clancy Grandy wins B.C. Scotties defeating Corryn Brown of Kamloops in extra end
KAMLOOPS — Corryn Brown’s dream of representing B.C. at the Scotties in Kamloops next month was crushed in the extra end at the provincial championship in Chilliwack. The Clancy Grandy rink defeated Brown 10 – 9 to earn the provincial crown.
Brown made a clutch double with the hammer to score one in the tenth and force the extra end. But in the extra end, Brown’s attempted raise with her final stone failed to give her shot stone, giving Grandy the victory and the provincial championship.
After going unbeaten in the tournament, the Kamloops rink struggled out of the gate in the final, giving up a steal of two in the first and a steal of one in the second.
Brown bounced back with a five in the third end however Grandy scored a single in the fourth and stole another single in the 5th to even the match. The teams traded singles and deuces the rest of the way, setting up the nail-biting finish.
