Petition garnering support to name Sun Peaks ski path after Ryan Shtuka
SUN PEAKS, B.C. — A petition has been set up online to name a ski path at Sun Peaks Resort after a man who vanished from the area nearly five years ago.
Started by London Cramer, the petition to name a path after Ryan Shtuka has garnered more than 700 signatures as of Tuesday (Jan. 10) morning.
The 20-year-old from Beaumont, Alta. was last seen leaving a party on Burfield Drive. Shtuka had left to walk home at around 2:00 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2018, but did not show up for work the following day, and hasn’t been active on social media or cellular networks since then. Searches held by RCMP and Shtuka’s family in the Sun Peaks area have taken place since, but no trace has been found.
“Ryan loved to snowboard and wanted to spend the season getting in as much riding as he could while also working for the resort,” Cramer writes. “Ryan is a truly amazing person and I believe he deserves his legacy to continue.”
