WolfPack women’s volleyball beats Regina; basketball teams split Saskatchewan matches

KAMLOOPS — The TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball team began its 2023 on a winning note, defeating the Regina Cougars 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20) at the Tournament Capital Centre Saturday (Jan. 7).

Brooklyn Olfert had a game-high 19 kills for TRU, who improve to 7-7 on the season. Regina drops to 0-14.

The WolfPack’s next game is slated for next weekend in Calgary against 8-5 Mount Royal.

In men’s basketball, the WolfPack upped their winning streak to five games with an 80-74 victory over Saskatchewan.

Denys Bachurin led TRU (5-5) with 21 points.

The women’s basketball team was not so successful, dropping an 84-31 decision to the Huskies.

The WolfPack (1-9) were led by Megan Rouault with eight points.

Both basketball teams host the UBC Thunderbirds at the TCC next weekend.
