Alberta man killed in Halston Connector crash Thursday

TK’EMLUPS — RCMP say a pedestrian was struck and killed on the Halston Connector Thursday night (Jan. 5).

In a release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. just east of Salish Road. A sedan driving westbound struck a man apparently trying to cross the traffic lanes.

Investigators have identified the victim as an Alberta man in his 30s.

Evelyn says the Halston was closed for about five hours while crews responded and investigated. The driver remained on scene to cooperate with investigators.

“The sedan was travelling westbound at the time in the far right lane when the collision occurred,” said Evelyn. “If anyone witnessed or captured dashcam footage of the scene and has not get spoken with police, please contact investigators as soon as possible.”
