“He’s really, really missed.” Family perplexed as to where Kamloops man might be

KAMLOOPS – The public is asked to keep an eye out for a white Dodge Avenger belonging to 22-year-old Jakob Gibbon, who was last seen on December 28.

Gibbon’s friends and family have scoured the North Shore in hopes of finding any clue to where the young man went.

“Jakob is one of the most kind and caring people I know. He loves his mom, loves his cat, he’s generous to a fault,” Gibbon’s sister-in-law Diana Cattermole told CFJC News.

Cattermole said Gibbon and their family went to the Kamloops Blazers game on December 28. When they returned home, Jakob said goodnight to his mother– but the next morning Jakob and his car were gone.

“She [his mom] woke up the next morning. The cat woke her up, which is odd because the cat is usually with Jakob,” Cattermole said. “And then (she) texted him, ‘Hey, where are ya?’ and then didn’t get a response which is really unlike him. He’s always in touch with his mom.”

“We are asking people to keep an eye out for both Jakob and his vehicle,” Evelyn said, “because hopefully his vehicle – if someone sees his vehicle, it will help lead to some answers on where he could be as well.”

Gibbon is believed to have left some time between 11:15 the evening of Dec. 28 and 8:15 the next morning.

Cattermole said leaving at that time was really out of character for Gibbon and they have no idea where he would have gone.

“We have no idea; that’s why it’s so puzzling to us,” Cattermole said. “We have absolutely no idea where he would have gone at that time of night ’cause he just wouldn’t do that – he wasn’t a partier, he was very much a homebody.”

His family is asking anyone in the area of Schubert Drive between Birch and Beach Avenues to check doorbell and dash cam videos from the night of Gibbon’s disappearance, for any sign of him or his vehicle.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jakob or his vehicle is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2022-46092.

“We’re all really worried about him, his moms really worried, his dad came down from Edmonton, everybody is out looking for him,” Cattermole said. “He’s really, really missed.”
