TRU administrator conduct investigation complete; some findings to be released later this month

KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University says the investigation into complaints of inappropriate conduct against two senior administrators has wrapped up.

In a note to media, a university spokesperson says the independent investigators “delivered their report to a sub-committee of TRU’s Board of Governors late in the day on December 21.”

The investigation was launched after anonymous complaints of discrimination and harassment were made in February 2021 against Vice-President of Finance and Administration Matt Milovick and Vice-President of People and Culture Larry Phillips. Phillips has since left the university while Milovick has continued in his role.

In an earlier update, the school said investigators had interviewed a “comprehensive list” of people over an 11-month period.

Sub-committee chair Marilyn McLean says the report has now been forwarded to outside counsel to determine which portions must be redacted for privacy reasons and which portions can be released to the public.

The university says once that process is complete, the parties involved will be informed of the findings and some portions of the report are likely to be released publicly. It’s expected that can take place later this month.
