Snowfall warning issued for Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt

KAMLOOPS — Mother Nature is targetting the Coquihalla Highway again on the final day of 2022. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the stretch of highway between Merritt and Hope.
It suggests further snow accumulations up to 10 cm could lead to difficult driving conditions on the high-mountain highway.
Environment Canada says a low-pressure centre that is approaching the South Coast is expected to deliver heavy snow to the southern half of the Coquihalla Highway today (Dec. 31). The system is expected to weaken later in the afternoon and then the snow is expected to ease.
It says rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations while reducing visibility suddenly at times.
