New Year’s fireworks arrive early as Cougars beat Kamloops Blazers

PRINCE GEORGE — The defence of the Kamloops Blazers and Prince George Cougars seemed to start New Year’s celebrations a little early. Both teams defence took the night off and the result was a 10 – 6 Prince George victory over Kamloops.

The teams combined for five goals in the first period, four goals in the second and seven in the third. Four Cougars had three point nights while Emmitt Finnie had three assists to lead the Blazers scoring on the night.

Both teams saw their starting goaltenders pulled over the course of the game which saw the Blazers outshoot the Cougars 35 – 33.

The win snapped the Cougars streak of 8 games without a win. Meanwhile the Blazers saw their 7 game winning streak ended.
