Kamloops RCMP looking to identify suspect in vehicle theft
KAMLOOPS — On Dec. 16, 2022, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers observed a possibly impaired driver in a North Shore drive-thru. Police followed the vehicle – a dark 2017 Dodge Ram with headache rack — onto Tranquille Road near Fortune Avenue and attempted a traffic stop, but it allegedly ran a red light and fled.
“Officers located the vehicle again near Grasslands Boulevard, at which point it apparently ran a stop sign and accelerated towards a police vehicle, causing the officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
Later that morning, police received a report that the same vehicle had been stolen from the 200-block of Pemberton Terrace sometime after 6 p.m. on Dec. 15. On Dec. 21, the vehicle was located abandoned.
“As part of the ongoing investigation, officers obtained surveillance footage from the drive-thru picturing a suspect police are looking to identify,” added Cpl. Evelyn.
