Teck says it contributes more than $1 billion to TNRD economy
KAMLOOPS — Teck Resources Limited, which operates the Highland Valley Copper Mine, says it generated $1.1 billion in economic activity in the Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD).
In its 2021 Economic Contribution Report, Teck says it created or sustained 4,395 jobs and contributed more than $24 million in taxes and government revenues.
“Our people are proud to contribute to the communities and jurisdictions where we operate, including the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, through the creation of family-supporting jobs, economic activity, and revenue to governments to support essential services like education and healthcare,” said Jonathan Price, CEO. “These economic contributions are directly linked with our work to responsibly provide critical minerals essential to modern society and for the global transition to a low-carbon economy.”
The report captures TECK’s direct economic impacts as well as its indirect impacts. It’s produced by Deloitte.
