Winter storm warning issued for Coquihalla from Merritt to Hope

MERRITT — A winter storm warning is in effect for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt.

Environment Canada issued the warning as heavy snowfall is expected as well as reduced visibility.

In the warning, it states, “an arctic front will bring snow and strong outflow winds to the region this weekend.”

Light snow will start Saturday afternoon and then will get progressively worse for drivers on the Coq.

Nearly 20 centimetres of snow is expected before the heavy snow eases Sunday afternoon.
