Blue Christmas at United Church for Kamloopsians feeling down during the holiday season

KAMLOOPS — The United Churches of Kamloops are hosting a non-traditional service on Wednesday evening (Dec. 14) for anyone who may be feeling blue this holiday season.

“Blue Christmas is a service that we hold before Christmas, to address when people are feeling a bit down, low,” Kamloops United Church administrative manager Florence Ballard explained.

“There’s a lot of hype around Christmas and maybe you don’t feel that way.”

According to Ballard, the 6:30 p.m. will be a quiet and peaceful space of hope and healing at the downtown church, located at 421 St. Paul Street.

“Life’s hard; sometimes things are really hard,” Ballard said. “It can feel really overwhelming, so to take a moment when you get to just sort of be in that space, acknowledge it without being overwhelmed by it.”

The service will also be streamed online to the Kamloops United Church YouTube channel.
