New traffic signal to be activated soon at Valleyview Drive and Highland Road

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says a traffic signal will soon be activated at the intersection of Highland Road and Valleyview Drive.

The intersection is a busy one, especially for motorists and cyclists heading to and from Juniper Ridge. It was previously controlled by a four-way stop.

To raise awareness of the new signal, it will begin on Wednesday (Dec. 14) by flashing red in all four directions — which indicates the same obligations for drivers as a four-way stop. This pattern will last for 72 hours before it begins operating as normal.

The city notes signal operation and timing may need to be tweaked once it begins operating, and commuters might experience some congestion while the kinks are worked out.
