KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers rebounded from their latest loss to the Victoria Royals this week with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Giants.

With the win, the Blazers secure their 15th win of the year and they now sit with a record of 15-6-3-2.

Kamloops currently holds the third seed in the WHL’s Western Conference standings with 35 points on the season. They are four points behind the Seattle Thunderbirds for second in the conference.

In Friday’s win over the visiting Giants, the Blazers controlled the tempo for most of the night outshooting Vancouver 31-23.

Ty Halaburda got the scoring started on the night in the second period for the Giants but was quickly answered by Kamloops’ Shea Van Olm just over one minute later.

Fast forward to the third period, and with less than 10 minutes to go, Matthew Seminoff scored his 11th goal of the year as he rifled a shot over Vancouver’s goalie’s left shoulder.

That goal proved to be the winner in the contest as Kamloops gets another win at home.

The Blazers won’t have time to rest as they are back in action Saturday (December 10) night against the Victoria Royals at the Sandman Centre.

Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
