Man arrested and charged in 2021 murder of North Shuswap man

SCOTCH CREEK, B.C. — The BC RCMP Major Crime Unit has arrested a man for the murder of a man in the North Shuswap in 2021.

In a news release Friday (Dec. 9) morning, Chase RCMP say 52-year-old Paul Vincent Binder was charged with the murder of 32-year-old John Vance of Scotch Creek on Monday (Dec. 5).

The charge stems from June 25, 2021, where Chase RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in the 4100-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road in Scotch Creek. Officers found the body of Vance, who had been shot and subsequently succumbed  to his wounds.

“I’m appreciative for the assistance from our partners and the ongoing efforts by the investigative team in bringing this matter to its current state,” Insp. Brent Novakoski, Southeast District senior investigating officer of the BC RCMP Major Crime Section.
