WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A pair of highway traffic stops led to police seizing nearly $25,000 combined in the Cariboo.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Dec. 6), Williams Lake Highway Patrol says officers first stopped a Dodge pickup truck on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile House on Nov. 17. Police say they seized just over $15,000 in cash related to crime and a small quantity of cannabis. The truck’s occupants were released at the scene.

Nearly two weeks later on Nov. 27, in a separate traffic stop, Highway Patrol say they stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 97 north of McLeese Lake. Police then seized over 350 grams of suspected illegal cannabis products and $10,000 in cash related to crime.

“The BC Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists that cannabis products cannot be transported in a vehicle unless it was purchased at a licensed facility, is sealed in its original packaging, and is out of reach of the driver and any passengers,” Sgt. Jason Nash with Williams Lake Highway Patrol says.
